CutterResearch members discuss how firms are supporting their clients’ requests for custom reports and access to data on their investments. Panelists share best practices for optimizing standard reports, and managing custom report processes, enabling data access, and their experience with the tools and solution providers they employ for this purpose.
Cindy Castellano is the CEO of Cutter Associates and has over 30 years of experience in the investment management industry. She formerly led Cutter Associates’ Client-Facing and Wealth practices, advising asset and wealth management firms on their sales and distribution, marketing, product development, consultant relations, client service, and client reporting. Cindy has conducted system searches for CRM, marketing automation, portals, pitchbooks/client presentation, content management, client reporting, client onboarding, and RFP systems. Prior to joining Cutter, Cindy served as Vice President and Head of Operations for a division of Guggenheim Investments, where she led mutual fund accounting and administration; institutional accounting, billing, and client reporting; SMA operations, performance reporting (GIPS); and fixed income performance, attribution, and risk reporting. As Vice President and Head of Equities, Cindy led the firm’s investment team and supervised equity trading activities.
Cindy also spent 10 years as a Senior Portfolio Manager and Research Analyst, managing over USD 500 million in AUM for mutual funds and VITs using social awareness (ESG), large cap growth, and mid-cap growth investment strategies. She developed the investment process, directed research analysts’ day-to-day efforts, and created the firm’s social criteria and proxy voting guidelines. Cindy, a Chartered Financial Analyst, holds a bachelor’s of business administration from Washburn University.
Eric Fender is the Head of North America Client Reporting/Servicing at Invesco. Eric joined Invesco in 2000 and is responsible for leading the creation and delivery of North America communications including factsheets, client books, and presentations. He was also responsible for the creation of the global client communication platform. This included the onboarding of communications from all over the globe rendered in 20+ languages. He has been instrumental in establishing and growing the platform as well as its proliferation at Invesco. Eric graduated from Northeastern University with a Bachelor’s degree in Finance and is currently pursuing an M.B.A. in Global Business Management at Georgia Tech University.
Robert Morales manages the Global Reporting Team in Client Service and Marketing at Western Asset. The Team is responsible for client reporting across the firm’s global offices and investment vehicle types, and it completes ad-hoc data analysis for both internal and external clients. Robert represents Client Service and Marketing on the Barclay’s Risk Analytics and Index Solutions Transition Team, is a member of the Client Service and Marketing IT Steering Committee, and is the product owner for both the firm's client reporting system and business intelligence tool, Tableau. Robert joined the firm in 2007, first working in Investment Support. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Government and Legal Studies from Claremont McKenna College.
Peter Smith oversees the Global Client Service Support organization within the Global Marketing Services division at Franklin Templeton Investments. His teams are located in the US, UK, Poland, India and Hong Kong and their responsibilities focus on client service support for the organization’s Institutional Client investments globally. Prior to his current role, Peter managed the RFP and Consultant Data Services teams for seven years. That team had a similar footprint and serviced both the retail and institutional business lines. In his 20 years with the firm, he has also worked in Global Project Management and Investment Operations. Prior to joining Franklin Templeton Investments, he worked in Systems/Business Analysis and Custody Administration with the Bank of New York in New York City. Peter holds a B.S. degree in Business Administration with concentrations in Finance and Marketing from Montclair State University in New Jersey.
Allison Volpe is Assistant Vice President in the Account Services team within the Operations Department at Income Research + Management. She joined the firm in 2011. She and her team are responsible for Client Reporting and Fund Administration. Allison is a graduate of the College of the Holy Cross, and received her M.B.A. from Lasell College.
